Military Mission

Des nodded and limped into the elevator. He pressed the ground floor button waiting for Zane to enter before the doors shut. He leaned against the wall and pulled out a lighter. He lit it and began to singe his wounds causing the blood to clot slowly. Des yelled in agony and pain but knew this was the only way.

"God Dammit! Arggg, this burns. Zane, let's go."

Des slammed on the ground floor button and continued to burn each wound closed slowly. The blood stopped flowing and came to a few drips per second. Des smiled at this odd healing process as he awaited Zane's entrance into the elevator. He continued to singe wound after wound giving himself 3rd degree burns. He knew these would be treated not like it mattered to him anyways his body was scarred from head to toe.

Des flipped the lighter shut and placed it back in his pocket. He ran a finger over each wound softly to check if they were sealed properly. Each seemed to be in order.

Zane followed him into the elevator and watched him cauterize his wounds. She would surely get pissed off with how he fixes his wounds.

"Right," he said, just to respond. The elevator ride was going smoothly and they reached the ground floor without a problem.

When they got out of the elevator, however, different kinds of chimeras littered the lobby. And many were all densely packed together by the entrance.

Warning. Commencing lock down in 3 minutes. The vicinity were lit up in red, the warning sound rang through their ears. "Just what is this place - a zoo?" Zane helped Des out the elevator.

"We don't need to finish them all off. We just need to get out - even if we have to make our own exit."

Des exited the elevator with the help of Zane and looked at the swarm of Chimera blocking their exit. He grinned and chuckled wincing at the pain it brung.

"Our own exit? I like the way you think Zane. By all means let's do this in style."

Des brushed himself off of Zane's shoulder and pulled out his gun. He shot the floor a few times and lowered himself. He drew a alchemy circle in it and dumped a few bullets into the dirt circle. Des slapped his hands on the circle and it lit up. The bullets also lit up and turned a golden brown color. Des placed them back into the clip and cocked it back.

"Ready?"

'Lockdown in two minutes, all personnel EVACUATE!'

Des grunted and shot a few bursts from his gun. The bullets exited and quickly turned into long dirt spiked that pierced a few Chimera. Des chuckled and limped forward shoving the dead bodies out of his way. He knew some may attack him but he wasn't being locked in here so might as well fight through them.

Zane smirked. "Of course. There's no way in hell we're getting locked in in here."
The lights were flashing red, and the sound was really starting to get irritating. As if it was mocking them, saying they wouldn't be able to get out - that they will be locked in. Zane didn't even want to think about it; there was just no way he would die that easily. Like he said at the beginning, he doesn't tolerate failures. He couldn't let himself eat his words. He had too much of a pride.

He tightened his gloves, looking serious, his face stoic. "Ready," he replied and slammed his palm on the floor, making icicles erupt from different directions, clearing the way and killing most of the chimeras by the door, the other staggering to the side.

"Now, Des!" he yelled. "Break that freaking door!" As he run towards it.

Lock down in one minute.

Des took a large leap of faith and landed in front of the closing metal doors. He rose slowly from landing on his bruised body and was able to secure one hand between the door and the wall. As he rose up the door started to crush his fingers. He screamed and placed the other hand in. Des started to scream and yell while prying the door open. Second by second it moved by inches. His strength was incredible.

"Come on...O-PEN!"

Des let out a large growl and forced the doors open for him and Zane to escape quickly. He stepped outside and fell to his knees. He coughed a bit of blood up and smiled in success letting the moonlight cascade half of his face. Des looked back to see if Zane would make it out like he had. He watched as the debris fell from the ceiling and Zane made his way towards the exit.

"Hurry up!"

Zane slid his way out with much haste as Des pried the door open for both of them. As they got out of the facility, the lock down commenced. And by that, for some reason, the whole facility crumbled.

Panting, Zane stood up and faced his partner. "Great job," he said. He took out the files and showed it to Des. "Mission complete."

Zane thought to himself. It's true, I'm not used to having a partner. But I guess it's fine once in a while. He glanced at the moon. Well, I did say it didn't matter if the facility collapsed as long as we had what we needed.

"It was nice working with you, Des."

Des smirked and gave Zane a nod of agreement. He stood up and embraced the fresh night air. He faced Zane and gave him a proper salute.

"Mission completed Zane. Nice working with you. Maybe again in the future. Until then, see you around."

Des started limping away from Zane into the dimly lit forest, slowly disappearing from his sight. Des stopped in the forest and looked back at what was once a tower, he smiled and took off once more. The mission was a success but never in his life had Des been injured but such trivial beasts. Des' only concern was the Altered human that almost killed him. Maybe another experiment gone wrong? Who knows? Des shrugged it off and disappeared into the night fog that just set in.
