Second Story Bookstore

Emi picked up a bag of cakes and paid for them before returning to the book store. She then ran towards the little corner picked up her book, placed it on a shelf, stood there and started eating her food. "Yummies!"

Rei smiled knowingly as Will walked through the room. "Hey, don't you dare get cake on those books," she called to the girl in the corner.

"Believe me, you don't want to. Life gets," she paused, looking for the right word. She set the book on the table next to her and rubbed her face with both hands. "Interesting when you do. And, Ace, if you so much as think about bringing up that darn Resistance movement in this store, so help me, I will throw you out a window."

Ace frowned and decided to sit quietly then and eat his doughnuts. "You know, you could be nicer to the guy who advertised for your store in that hot costume for days," Ace mumbled to himself.

Will made sure no one could hear him, or see him for that matter. He crept into his room and looked at his lil friend, chirping his head off.

"Sorry lil buddy."

Will smushed up a worm, opened his cage door, and fed it to the bird, the bird eating it all, chirping happily.

"Now I need a name for you...."

Will allowed the bird to climb up onto his shoulder. The bird then playfully nibbled on his ear

Well, my work here is done
"I'll be wanting to chat with you later, Ace," she said meaningfully. She turned to Rei, "And I'd like to buy those books now, if I could. It's getting dark."

"I won't, promise! It would be terrible if I did!" Emi stood in the corner nibbling on her cakes, watching the scene around her.

"And you got your book," Rei said to Ace, rolling her eyes.

"Sure, you can buy the books. I'll ring them up over here for you." Rei gathered all the books and found the books on automail in the stack on the counter. She quickly punched the buttons on the cash register and told Dwyrin her bill.

"Normal but not quite, I suppose."

Ace frowned and slumped his shoulders. "Bye then, guys. We can have that talk anytime, Dwyrin."

Ace walked downstairs and out the door of the store.

[Ace has exited]

Will decided to go and take a walk with his bird. Since he was still young, he could be mistaken for a normal bird. He thought he might want a larger space to hang in. He decided to only risk the store. All he had to worry about was cleaning his messes.

Will walked downstairs and into the store

Dwyrin paid Rei and shoveled her new books into her bag. She couldn't be rid of a nagging feeling as she walked downstairs.

There's something about her...I can't quite put a finger on it She looked down to where there should have been one more finger, Ha, get it. It was a mirthless joke. Anyway, Rei lived above a bakery - a good one, too - she'd have another chance to see her.

{Exit dwyrin!}

"Person has come downstairs! With a little bird too! Awwws!" Emi put her cakes on the side and ran over to where Zergio was standing.

Rei waved at the two departing people.

"'With a little bird'?" she repeated. She looked up at Will then down at the bird. "Hey, Zergio. Are you sure you want to bring him down here?"

Will smiled

"Don't worry, he can't fly yet~ Plus, if anone suspicious comes in, I'll run upstairs"

The bird hopped towards Emi, landing a lil below her chest. He then climbed up to her shoulder and nibbled her ear.

"Awwww, he likes you ^^ but I wish he wasn't so impulsive"

"Awwwws! He is sooo cute!" Emi the stroked his feathers a little bit before handing him back to Zergio. "I has food to cook now though so I shall have to leave, bye byes nice peoples!" With that Emi collected her book and cakes and skipped to the stairs turning round once to give a smile and a wave. "Thank you!"

[Emi has left]

"Welcome," Rei said, waving back.

She began to clean the store. "You sure it's smart to have him down here, though? You can't always tell the bad guys from the good guys with a single glance, you know."

Will helped with the cleaning

"Right now, he can,t be easily told apart from other, normal birds. I figured I'd take him down oncw. Not every day, mind you, but every now and again. Birds hate being cooped up.

The bird chirped.

"That's true, I suppose," Rei conceded, stopping to look at the bird. "He'll be too identifiable when he has enough feathers to fly. What will you do when that happens?"

"I'll take him to my farm. He'll have lots of space to fly around and do whatever. and, if anyone enters the forest to find him....... the wolves will help him~"

"Just make sure the wolves know that he's not supper," Rei said, staring at the place in the wall Tosh had created her sword.

"How do I fix this? I don't even know what all she used."

"Say, what should we call him? I think he needs a name, right?"

He chirps and jumps

"That he does," Rei said, smiling. "What kind of name should we give him? An exotic name? A meaningful name? A funny name?" She waved her hands at the books before her. "We have plenty of names to choose from."

"I was thinking meaningful, since he's from a, supposedly, extinct race"

Rei walked over to the shelves and looked through the books before finding the one she wanted. She flipped through it a moment. "This is a matter of opinion. What do you think of the name Darin?"

"Darin sounds cool :U whats it mean?"

"'Precious gift'," she said. "I think it fits him. He's quite a special gift to you, after all."
