Kairo reenters the battle field where he fought the humunculous. He btought Kotaro with him to show him the area. “Well this is it.”

Kotaro looked around the battlefield. The scars from the war had never healed. "Not much to look at. But you were attacked here?"

“Yep. He came from that fort overrthere.” Kairo pointed at the fort.

Kotaro looked at the large fort that lied at least a mile away. "I'm going in there. You coming?"

Kairo shrugged. "Why not. I feel like taking a life today."

Kotaro began to walk toward the fort, the sand beginning to pick up in the wind. Kotaro stopped and looked around, spotting a dark mass approaching them. "SANDSTORM!"

"A what?" Kairo looked at the approaching mass. "Get to the fort! It will shelter us!" Kairo darted toward the fort.

Kotaro was already running toward the fort before Kairo suggested it. As him and Kairo entered the fort they began to close the large metal doors. They stopped a quarter of the way. "It's rusted Stiff!" Kotaro let go and watched to make sure the door stayed in place. It did. "Kairo, leave it!"

Kairo let go of the door and backed up from it. There was a entrance large enough for a tank to work its way through, but it kept most of the storm out. "Great, we're trapped here." He sat on a box.

Kotaro shook his head. "Well, we were coming here anyway." Kotaro walked a bit toward the center of the forts courtyard. "Might as well explore while the storms acting up." He walked up to a switch and flipped it. Nothing but a few dangling lights turned on. "Just great."

Kairo growled. "Fine, but I'm going to kill something while I am here." He stood up and looked around the fort. It seemed to be in pretty good condition. The sand had made everything smooth. "Could be a good hangout."

"If it wasn't for the rodents." Kotaro had spotted multiple bats and rats. "Still, the lights still work, so someone might be here." He walked toward a medium sized door. It opened without him touching it. "Sci-Fi frenzy I guess."

Kairo approached the door. "I like it. Very lazy." He walked through the door, a strange scent entering his nostrils. "What smells like fermented fish?" He plugged his nose.

Kotaro smelled the air, his eyes starting to water. "Damn that stinks!" He wiped his eyes. "Lets hurry this up so we can breath again." He continued deeper into the fort. As he got deeper into the hallway the walls seemed to become smoother and made of metal. There were lights on as well. "Looks like someone is living here."

Kairo unplugged his nose and nodded. He walked ahead of Kotaro and approached another door. Thsi one had a console. "What the hell is-"

DNA Scan required. Place hand on console and place eyes in front of retina scanner.

"-This." Kairo scratched his head. "Wow"

Kotaro looked at the console. "This looks just like..." He placed his hand on the console and eyes in front of the scanner. A white light enveloped his hand and a small beam of light surrounded his eye.

The door opened. Kotaro stepped through it.

Kairo raised an eyebrow. "Freaky" He followed Kotaro into the room.

Kotaro looked around the room. There was a large steel container in the middle of the room and a console in front of it. "This place..." Kotaro held onto his head, a sudden pain shooting through it.

"Hold him down! Don't let him escape!"

Kotaro was being strapped to a table, struggling to be let free.

"Begin the experiment!"

A large beam suddenly cut into Kotaro, seeming to make him feel he was on fire. He screamed as it coursed through his body.

"Shut it down!"

The pain and beam disappeared. Kotaro lay on the table, barely conscious.

"The experiment augmented his abilities, even his strength, but he won't listen to your orders." A dark silhouette appeared. "Then send him away! Get him back to Central! We have a back up plan."
